Both 45-meter double-end, 1A ICE class car ferries for Estonian island connections are on the water. Second was launched in the beginning of December 2014.
Baltic Workboats has awarded beginning of 2013 contract for 1 (+2 in option) double-ended car ferries for Estonian island connections. For now contract is signed for two ferries. Both of them are in production whilst first one is already having busy interior works and second is under hull construction process. Both ferries will be ready in 2015. First in the beginning of summer and second in the end of the year.
These ferries are built according Russian Maritime Register of Shipping rules and have Arc4 ice class, which is similar to Finnish/Swedish 1A ice class. The vessels are able to operate in 45 cm solid ice. Ferries are double ended, driven by two RR105 Azimuth Thrusters each in one end of the vessel. Accordingly vessels have two engine rooms situated in both ends. Two MTU 8V4000M engines power each of these ferries. The ferries are designed to carry 22 cars or combination of two trucks and cars. Additionally these ferries are designed in the way that there is readiness to install twin deck for second car level to carry 10 more cars. There is passenger area for 200 passenger and accommodation for 6 crew member on these ferries.
